What is llms.txt?
A Markdown file at the site root (example.com/llms.txt) that briefly describes the project and links its key pages. The format was proposed at llmstxt.org to help AI agents find what matters without parsing the full layout.
Will llms.txt get my site cited by ChatGPT or other AI search?
There is no guarantee: llms.txt is an emerging convention and search engines have not committed to using it. It is cheap to maintain and complements what already works: open robots.txt access for AI bots, Schema.org markup, fast pages and clear content.
How is llms.txt different from robots.txt and sitemap.xml?
robots.txt sets access rules, sitemap.xml lists every indexable page, and llms.txt is a short annotated summary for language models. They complement each other.
Is listing free?
Yes. You need a published llms.txt and compliance with the content policy; an AI moderator reviews every submission automatically.
